Program Overview
Creative Pause: Art for Calm and Connection is a welcoming creative wellbeing program designed for adults who would like time to slow down, express themselves creatively, connect with others and enjoy a gentle break from the pressures of everyday life.
The program uses simple, enjoyable creative activities such as painting, watercolour, collage, journaling, memory keeping, nature-based art, clay, mixed media and reflective projects. Activities are designed to encourage relaxation, creativity, self-expression and meaningful social connection rather than artistic perfection.
No previous art experience is required. Participants are encouraged to create at their own pace, make their own choices and interpret each activity in a way that feels comfortable and meaningful to them.
Program Purpose
Creative Pause provides a calm and supportive environment where adults can:
- Develop simple strategies for relaxation and self-care.
- Reflect on personal strengths, memories, hopes and experiences.
- Connect with other people in a friendly and respectful environment.
- Develop a greater sense of belonging and community connection.
Who Can Attend
Creative Pause is suitable for adults of different ages, backgrounds, abilities and levels of creative experience. It may particularly appeal to people seeking greater social connection, carers needing time for themselves, adults experiencing isolation or life changes, community members looking for a relaxing activity, and people simply wanting to reconnect with their creativity.
Activities can be adapted to suit different abilities and individual needs wherever practical.
